The High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania facilitated borrowing of 400 Genexpert Cartridges from the Republic of Malawi, to cover the existing shortage of the same in the country, following the logistical challenges with Global Drug Facility (GDF). The arrangement is in line with the SADC Protocol on Health which, among other things, calls Member States to cooperate in combating HIV/AIDS, TB and other communicable diseases, including ensuring constant supplies of medicines and medical supplies within the Region. The borrowed Genexpert Cartridges will be returned to the Republic of Malawi once the United Republic of Tanzania receives her consignment of the same from the GDF.
